Hasn’t everyone heard of a strapless bra? Or maybe a convertible bra? How about a racer back bra? Even clear straps are better than visible bra straps but they don’t have to show either. There is a reason that bras are in the underwear category. I know that some people are uncomfortable in strapless bras especially if they are large chested. (Although I have heard of them falling down too on the less endowed.) And bras are certainly pretty these days and expensive and I can understand wanting them to be seen, but PLEASE do we have to? I have seen way too many beautifully designed tops and dresses ruined by visible bra straps. They are very distracting and the eye is drawn right to them. If the straps were meant to show they would have been part of the design in the first place. Unfortunately, they are often dirty and worn to boot! Why are they any better than visible thongs?

I got my first bra on the last day of school in 7th grade. Yes, later than my peers. I never wore undershirts and we wore slips under our dresses back then (waaaaaaayyyyyyy back then).I used to steal my sister’s old training bras because apparently I was the only one who thought I needed to wear one. On the last day of school we were allowed to wear shorts and my top was a stretchy sleeveless one so I had a dilemma…..time for a bra that I could call my own. I was so proud of my very own new bra that I sat hunched over my desk most of the day just so someone might notice the outline of it. Who’d have thought that the next few decades would be filled with searching for the perfect bras for every occasion in an effort to conceal them? And now I have almost as many as I have shoes.

My point is, straps and other bra parts don’t have to show. There are even little gadgets like the Brabuddy and Bra Barettes that clip the straps together so they won’t fall down. I’m just stressing the need to restrain from strutting around and struggling with stray straps.
