No wonder most men have only a few pairs of shoes. They don’t usually wear skirts or dresses and they only have a few styles of pants. The most common of these (excluding sports-specific pants) are trousers which come flat front or pleated, khakis, which come flat front or pleated, jeans, cords and shorts.

We women on the other hand MUST have many, many, many more shoes. Dresses and skirts require very specific shoes. Why, I can list many types of dresses: let’s see…mini’s, maxi’s, midi’s, cocktail dresses, lbd’s, evening gowns, day dresses, wrap dresses, shifts, sheaths, shirt dresses, sun dresses, coat dresses, handkerchief hems, and slip dresses just to name a few. As for skirts, there are full skirts, pencil skirts, dirndl skirts, split skirts, skorts, pleated skirts, wrap skirts, bubble skirts, carwash skirts (ew), and culottes. So many different heel heights…..so many different styles. Then one must consider that even the most discriminating palate includes many different colors.

As for pants….who says MEN wear the pants? We all know that women really do and that is why we have so many choices! Okay, here I go: There are trousers, slacks, pleated, flat front, high-waisted, low-rise, big leg, skinny leg, jeans of all types, jeggings, leggings, stirrups, riding pants, jodhpurs, dhotis, harrem pants, Hammer pants (ew), peg-legs, palazzos, gauchos, cropped, capri’s, boot cuts, flares, wide leg, boyfriend pants, cargo pants, chinos, painter pants, Bermuda shorts, bicycle shorts, hot pants and Daisy Dukes. Inhale. They present themselves in many different colors as well.

Ahhhh, so many shoes, so many ways. It’s all like a giant puzzle and we all know that it’s just not possible to put together puzzles with missing pieces!
