Yes! Cameron Diaz is in great shape. It looks like she has been working out. Good for her! There was some discussion this morning on Good Morning America about her being “buff” and how there seems to be a return to a somewhat muscular look in women. I first became interested in fitness in the 80’s and watched the transition in what was considered looking “in shape” vs. looking “buff”. Jane Fonda always exemplified a long, lean slender body with good muscle tone but as aerobics classes started to fade a little in favor of picking up the weights, female bodies were taking on a more muscular look. I always liked muscle definition but did not care for the extreme look of the female body builders. I must say though that I admired the hard work and discipline that they put themselves through. In the last couple of decades, women leaned out again as yoga and Pilates classes grew in popularity. Lately, I have noticed a different aesthetic which seems to be a combination of lean and fit and someone who has worked on strength training. Perhaps it is a tribute to the more popular boot camp type training or Tabata training that have risen in popularity.

Remember, you can work out all you want but if your diet is poor, you will not have the lean look that Cameron Diaz has. Her body fat percentage is probably very low which allows that 6-pack to be visible.
