Hair accessories have gone to great lengths to embellish, entertain, and bedazzle the eyes of the beholder. Highlights have been traded with colors that remarkably resemble the hair of troll dolls of old, and if you haven’t braved the all over blues, purples, pinks and greens, you can always have a little fun with smudging. It just places the color in select areas to punctuate the look. Or.. if you are not so brave and want the wash out variety, you can chalk your hair. Just don’t choose a rainy day or your makeup might take on some unusual colors. If you prefer extensions, there are human hair extensions to add length and fullness but why stop there? You can have metallic pieces mixed in or feathers for a boho chic look. Just picture Steven Tyler during his judging on American Idol.

I am reminded that often during down times economically, people tend to embellish their looks with jewels, color, feathers, and multiple necklaces and bracelets. Never mind the sophistication of a minimalist look. When times are hard, we turn to excitement in small things that catch the eye and divert the attention from reality. While I might not sport the look myself…(tatoo-free as well) I am entertained by the bravery of those who dabble.
