Sure, now lets torment the 8 year olds about their breast size. Padded push-up bikini tops at Abercrombie Kids? I’m beginning to wonder if the designers at Abercrombie and Fitch are pedophiles. Why must they sexualize little girls? It’s bad enough that the media exposes prepubescent children to sexual behaviors and pressures to be thin that are way beyond their level of comprehension. Are girls ever going to get a chance to feel good about themselves before they too have to measure up to the air brushed photo shopped images on the side of commuter buses and billboards?

I think baby bikinis are adorable and there is nothing wrong with cute, ruffly, two-piece swimming suits for little girls but padded push-up tops (what are they pushing up??) are borderline macabre. It reminds me of the overly made up faces and and fake teeth worn by little girls whose parents insist they compete in pageants. I’m sure these bikinis must be the next step, when they are too old to compete, too young to have breasts, and hungry for the level of attention they’ve become accustomed to. Or will child breast implants be the next step in insuring that little girls self-acceptance is unattainable?
