I am loving the pencil skirts that are showing for this fall. The hemlines have dropped to what one could no longer call a “mini” and the silhouette is long and tall. Pair them with some interesting stockings and a nice high shoe and even I can look like I have grown a couple of inches. The lean shape of the pencil skirt allows you to wear a looser, flowing top or a fitted jacket with a little ‘ umph ‘ in the shoulders or sleeves to balance the look. Some of the skirts have a high waist which work well to lengthen the torso too but be careful if you don’t have a little length there to begin with. You don’t want the waistline to tickle your ribs. A wide belt can give the illusion of a high waist too but try not to cinch it too tightly. Try a narrow belt instead for a modern twist.
