This morning I texted my son’s girlfriend that I was in need of color and a trim. I believe my words were “I’m pretty ugly right now but it suits my mood so its not a big deal if you can’t get me in until next week.” Katie, who has been working as an assistant has been working very hard to get a book. Even the most established hairdresser needs not only to maintain their regular customers, but needs to attract new clients as well. This is true of any service industry. After agreeing to a Sunday appointment, I styled my hair and left the house to run errands this morning. Ironically, as I walked out of the grocery store, a young lady approached me and asked who cut my hair. I was not only happy to tell her it was Katie, I remembered that I had some of her business cards which I very quickly handed to the woman.

If you want to help your hairdresser, manicurist, masseuse, stylist, house cleaner, personal trainer, and other people who work hard to provide a service and keep you looking and feeling good, ask for some business cards to pass along. Word of mouth with a card to back it up is a valuable tool. Share your secrets and be proud to represent!
