I’m a little tired today after a very busy weekend and so I will just rant. We’ve all seen those badly-lined lips. My absolute “favorite” is the black or brown liner with the clear lip gloss. This is a huge make-up DON’T! Surely the victim must have grabbed her eye pencil by mistake! The purpose of lip liner isn’t to outline the lips like we used to outline in our coloring books. It is to provide a barrier in order for lipstick not to bleed into the creases above the lips. The above look was often seen in the 80’s but extreme versions of it still exist and will surly cheapen and date the appearance of the wearer.

More recently, we were told to match our liner to our lipstick but even that has its drawbacks as the liner remains long after the lipstick has worn off. A fresher approach, especially with sheer glosses and lip tints, is to match the liner to your lip color. To increase the staying power of your lip gloss or stain fill in your lips with the liner as it will act like a lipstick foundation.

So there’s my rant for the week and I will put my lips to rest!
