I will be talking about Superfoods in my posts from time to time. Blueberries and pomegranates are on the list of the top 10-30 foods, depending on whose list you go by. From the many discussions and definitions of superfoods, I will quote David Wolfe, a renowned nutritionist and author:

“Superfoods are a special category of foods found in nature. By definition they are calorie sparse and nutrient dense meaning they pack a lot of punch for their weight as far as goodness goes. They are superior sources of anti-oxidants and essential nutrients – nutrients we need but cannot make ourselves. We all may be adding more salads and vegetables to our diets, but concern over the quality of foods grown on mineral depleted soils makes Superfoods an intelligent choice.”

Blueberries and pomegranates are high on the list, but only in their natural forms…as they are found in nature. Don’t be fooled by processed foods which contain these berries. The safer choice would be to buy a tasty whole grain cereal and add fresh berries. Be an educated consumer and don’t put up with marketing foolery!
